  • What is NJB?

    NJB or National Junior Basketball League is a non-profit youth basketball organization founded in 1984 by Dennis Murphy Jr.  Dennis had a vision of a youth basketball league based on sportsmanship and player development. NJB has grown into a national youth league with over 25,000 participants in 6 states. See www.njbl.org for more national information.

    In the Northern California (NorCal) NJB Region, we have about 8,500 boys and girls playing NJB basketball.

  • What programs does SVNJB offer?

    Silicon Valley NJB has a variety of different programs that are offered throughout the year.  From Seasonal Leagues, Clinics, AAU Club Teams, 3 on 3  tournaments, and much more!

  • Do you offer classes to improve basketball skills?

    SVNJB has a Skill Development Program to help players work on and improve their basketball skills through various drills and live ball scrimmaging.

  • Winter League: What chapter do I register with?

    The Winter League, by far is our biggest and most popular league of the year with over 450+ teams within our 14 Silicon Valley chapters.  Our chapters cover much of the South Bay Area from the Northern Penisula near Redwood City down past Hollister.


    To register for Winter League you must register with you local home winter NJB chapter.  To find your chapter use our chapter map tool.

  • Winter League: My local chapter is at their player capacity, What should I do?

    If your local chapter is not accepting any new players you can try the next chapter near you. You will need to fill out a player release form and have it signed by your City Chapter and NJB’s League Director.

What programs do you offer?

Silicon Valley NJB has a variety of different programs that are offered throughout the year.

Leagues
  • Winter
    • Chapter Registration opens around late August - early September
    • K - 12th Grade
    • All-Net (advanced players)
    • Rookie (K - 2nd)
    • Register with your local chapter
  • Spring
    • Registration opens around February-March
    • 3rd Grade - 8th Grade
    • NO CHAPTERS!
    • Register with Silicon Valley Section
  • Summer
    • Registration opens around May
    • 3rd Grade - 8th Grade
    • NO CHAPTERS!

AAU Teams
  • Our Silicon Valley Stars AAU program is a great environment for kids 5th-8th to play competitive basketball, develop their skills, and gain new friends and experiences.

Camps & Clinics
  • We offer small camps and clinics for kids to develop their skills and make them a better basketball player overall.

What is Winter League?

Winter League is our biggest basketball league of the year.  The are 14 chapters for Winter League that cover most of the South Bay Area.  To play in Winter League you must register with your local chapter first.  These chapters are:

MY LOCAL CHAPTER ISN’T ACCEPTING ANY NEW PLAYER. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If your local chapter is not accepting any new players you can try the next chapter near you. You will need to fill out a player release form and have it signed by your City Chapter and NJB’s League Director.

I would like my child to play in another chapter and not my local one. What should I do?

You will need to fill out a player release form and have it signed by your City Chapter and NJB’s League Director. A signed release form is only good for one (1) season!

I am interested in becoming a coach.  What should I do?

During the Winter Season, chapters are always looking for volunteer coaches.  If you are interested in coaching during the Winter Season (Oct. - Mar) contact a chapter in your area and let them know you would like to be a coach. 

Coaches must pass a background check and will be fingerprinted.

If you are interested in coaching during our off-season leagues (Spring and Summer) please fill out our coaches form to be added to the potential off-season coaches database.
