KYLE ELLIOT

6th Grade Boys

 Coach Kyle has been with the Stars program since the 2015 Fall Ball season.  He played basketball for his High School team under Coach Tariq at Lincoln High School and has provided a great experience for his young team.  Implementing the proper fundamentals and building upon multiple skillsets.   He puts the basics in place for these young players to carry on to the next level.  Being relatively young and with his high school playing experience in mind, he knows what it takes to be a good player and passes this knowledge on to his team.

MIGUEL "CHIEF" ESPARZA AND JAMILE YOUNG

7th Grade Boys

Coach Chief and Coach Jamile have been with our program since the 2016 Spring/Summer. Coach Chief brings a motivational and positive attitude to the game. That along with Coach Jamile’s team strategies make for a good combination. Chief and Jamile have assisted with several local high school basketball programs such as Evergreen Valley and Overfelt High School. Coach Jamile has served as Head Coach for JV Girls at Overfelt from 2014 – 2016 and is currently the Head Coach for Varsity Boys at Overfelt High school. Providing a great mixture of team strategy along with positive encouragement, their teams perform very well. One great accomplishment they have achieved is winning first place at Reno’s Memorial Day tournament, one of the biggest AAU tournaments of the year.

Luis Carranza

Girls Coach

Coach Carranza is a very experienced coach racking up over 30 years of experience. He has coached 8 plus years of Girl’s High School basketball across 4 schools; Mt. Pleasant, Yerba Buena, Silver Creek and Summit Rainer. Within that duration of time, he collected 4 league championships and one of them being the only Girl’s league championship in that particular schools history. His latest championship coming from Cal-State games last year with his team receiving Gold medals at the event with his 5th Grade AAU team. Utilizing his knowledge and coaching experience, he provides his team with a great amount of wisdom and puts them in a good position to win every game.


JESSE MORENO

5th Grade Boys

Coach Jesse has been a coach with the Stars since the 2016 Fall Ball Season.  He began his youth basketball coaching career in our SVNJB Spring League.  Coach Jesse holds a masters in Kinesiology from St. Mary's College and is looking to expand his coaching horizon this season in our AAU program.  Coach Jesse is also associated with the Men’s Basketball program at Santa Clara University.  He began coaching in our Stars program with our youngest age group, Coach Jesse looks to implement the basic fundamentals and get players started on the right foot for their young basketball journey.

Jan Pedrasa

9th Grade Boys

Coach Jan joined the Stars coaching staff during the Fall season of 2015. He coached with the Evergreen NJB Chapter for a year and also coached for a season with the Titans AAU program. He is a well-rounded coach who holds a high standard in discipline as well as structure. Working with our older Boys teams, he implements very high intensity drills developing multiple skill sets for every player and develops high IQ concepts which the players can utilize going into High School. Jan is a certified personal trainer who has a great background in maintaining health and avoiding injury. Coach Jan’s primary goal for his team each season is to push them to their limits to expand on each players potential and overall prepare them for High School and their future basketball seasons.

ERIC CORDOVA

8th Grade Boys
and Stars Athletic Director

Coach Eric Cordova is the Athletic Director for both the Stars and SVNJB. He joined the program back in Spring of 2014. Originally serving as a volunteer coach for a JV NJB team, he was introduced to the Stars by a fellow coach and has been with our program ever since. Eric played 4 years of High School basketball at Evergreen Valley under Coach Sean Fernandez. At Evergreen Valley, he earned MVP awards as well as First-Team all-tourney awards. He recently coached the Boys Basketball Teams at Hoover Middle School. He has lead several of SVNJB’s Skills Clinics and has been the lead clinician at NJB’s coaching clinic as well. Regarded as a player’s coach, he does an excellent job of teaching his players skills and techniques they can use throughout their basketball journey. Eric has won multiple tournaments during his time with our club bringing in multiple tournament victories each season.

Tyrone Monroe

Girls Coach
and NJB league Administrator

Coach Monroe is a basketball coach with 25 + years of experience working with youth athletes in the bay area. He is currently the Silicon Valley NJB League Administrator, former Coaching jobs includes Piedmont Hills Girls varsity coach 5 yrs, Bellermine College Prep JV Basketball Head Coach and a Varsity Assitant Coach 1 yr, Chapter Director for the Berryessa/Milpitas NJB Chapter 10 yrs, Varsity Head Coach at James Lick High School (4 years) and the Founder/Director/Coach for the Bay Area Heat AAU basketball club.Coach Monroe has also served and volunteer with Berryessa community center (flag football and basketball), Berryessa Cougars, North Valley Soccer and Coyote Creek Pop Warner Football. He has helped local youth Student/Athletes extend their academic and athletic careers at the middle schools, high school, college and professional levels. 

B.K. Robertson

Girls Coach

The 2017 season will be Coach BK Robertson's seventh season with the Silicon Valley Stars. Coach Robertson has been coaching 8th grade girls basketball at Willow Glen Middle School since 2009. He has also coached boys and girls at Willow Glen, Crittenden, and Graham Middle Schools since 2006. His teams won league championships in 2008, 2011, 2014 (2), and 2015. He will be coaching our 6th grade girls and assisting our 5th grade girls AAU teams this season.
 
Coach Robertson uses a skills-based, developmental approach with his teams. Players are encouraged to perfect their skills and strategies during practice, so those skills and strategies come more readily and fluidly during games. This approach not only yields team improvement during the season, but also player improvement that has been proven to carry on to the next level. He will coach 5th & 6th Grades.
